Ratnagiri to Ganpatipule: bus timetable, or taxi?
Last checked: 22 Oct 2026
Both work. ST buses run from the Ratnagiri ST stand to Ganpatipule through the day, roughly 7 am to 7:30 pm, and take about 1 to 1¼ hours. The latest list we found (updated September 2026) has 14 buses, the last at 7:30 pm, and none at night. The stand is about 8 km from the railway station, so train travellers need an auto first. A taxi picks you up at the station or your hotel and takes about an hour door to door, which suits families, luggage, night trains and same-day returns.

How sure are these times? What each source says
The lists don't match exactly, which is normal: ST changes timings by season, and none of these is an official MSRTC page. They agree on the useful part: buses run through the day, the trip takes about an hour, and there's nothing late at night.
Plan as if the last bus leaves Ratnagiri at about 7:30 pm, and call before you travel: the MSRTC helpline is 1800 22 1250 and the Ratnagiri bus stand is 02352 222340 (numbers as listed by Ticket To Get Lost).

From the railway station to the bus
Ratnagiri railway station is outside the city. The ST stand Google Maps lists for Ratnagiri (Rahataghar) is about 8 km away, about 20 minutes by road, so take an auto from the station first. Ask at the enquiry counter which stand your bus leaves from.
If your train arrives after about 6:45 pm, the last buses (7:15 and 7:30 pm) are hard to make once you add the ride to the bus stand. Night trains have no bus at all, which is where a pre-booked taxi helps.
Going back, the latest list shows the last bus from Ganpatipule to Ratnagiri on the Aare-Ware road at 5:45 pm; the temple's older list has inland buses until 6:45 pm. Plan an evening return by car if you want sunset at the beach.
Taking a taxi
Ola and Uber don't do local rides in Ratnagiri (see is Ola, Uber or Rapido available in Ratnagiri?), so book a local taxi ahead. With Ovi Tours, Nayanish meets you at the station exit, follows your train's running status if it's late, and can wait while you take darshan for a same-day return. See Ratnagiri station pickups.
Families and night arrivals usually find a Ratnagiri to Ganpatipule cab simpler: one car from the station exit to the temple.
